Club Rules
1. MEMBERSHIP
a) The Management Committee may determine a limit to the number of playing and junior members.
b) A junior member is defined as being between the ages of 10 and 18 years as at the 31st March in any year.
c) A non-playing member (also known as a social member) may participate in all fund-raising events, hold office and be a member of the Management Committee but cannot play on the green except as a visitor see Clause 5.

2. SUBSCRIPTIONS

a) The rate of annual subscription for playing, non-playing and junior members shall be agreed at the Annual General Meeting.
b) Subscriptions shall be due after the AGM and any person not having paid their subscription by the 31st March following the AGM shall cease to be a member.
c) No member shall be permitted to play until after payment of their subscription.
3. BOWLING SEASON
a) Dates for the opening and closing of the Green shall be fixed by the Management Committee.
b) Subject to availability the Green shall be open for play on each day during the season.
4. RULES OF THE GREEN
a) Hard or block-heeled footwear, open-toed sandals or shoes or flip-flops must not be worn whilst playing or walking on the green during any match whether it be League, Cup, Representative, Club Competition or Social. Suitable flat heeled footwear must be worn on the green.
Anyone ignoring this rule in any circumstances (including social bowling) will do so at their own risk and are not able to claim against Boston Spa Bowling Club’s insurance in the event of any accident.
b) Juniors must be accompanied by an adult when playing on the Green.
c) Members and guests without bowls may borrow the Club bowls.
d) Members must be suitably dressed so as not to give offence to other players or members.
5. VISITORS
a) Members other than junior members may introduce a playing member as a visitor.
b) Visiting players and non-playing (social) members wishing to play socially must on each occasion sign their name(s) in the Register situated in the pavilion and pay the visitor's fee of £5. This fee includes the hire of the Club's bowls if required.
c) A visitor or non-playing member who becomes a full member may have the fees of being a full member offset by their visitor’s fees paid during the same season.
6. CONDUCT OF PLAYERS
a) Members shall at all times conduct themselves in accordance with the Rules of the Yorkshire County Crown Green Bowling Association.
b) Any member guilty of misconduct on the Green, on Bowling Club premises or at any meeting connected with the Club shall be reported to the Secretary. The Management Committee shall have the power to expel such a member, subject to a right of appeal to a General Meeting of members.
7. TEAM SELECTION
7.1 General
In the off-season members shall make known to the Club Secretary their playing preferences for the new season. In Leagues where the Club has two or more teams, members shall identify whether they wish to play in a specific team or any team.
The club captains together will determine the make-up of the playing squads of the teams for the forthcoming season at their pre-season meeting chaired by a non-captain.
7.2 Promotion and Relegation between A and B Teams
There will be no formal promotion or relegation of players. It will be addressed at the above captains’ meeting when member’s wishes are known.
7.3 Running of Teams
Captains will specify before the season starts how they intend to rotate their squads to be fair to all members and how they intend to run the team with regard to running order and the effects of illnesses, holidays and work commitments.
8. AVERAGES

To be presented a club averages award, players must be top of the club averages for that League as shown on (bowlsnet.org.uk) website published League Tables.
2 In the event that two or more players achieve exactly the same top average (to three decimal places), then the award will be presented to the player recording the most wins. If two or more players have the same number of wins then the player with the highest aggregate score will receive the award.
9. GENERAL
The Club cannot be held responsible for member’s personal property left on Club premises and/or left unattended whilst they are on the Green.
10. RULES
a) Any alteration or amendment to these Rules can only be made in accordance with the Club Constitution.
b) A copy of the Club Rules is to be displayed at all times on the Notice Board in the Pavilion and must not be removed.
c) A copy of the Club Rules and the Club Constitution shall be available to any member on request to the Secretary.
